DRAKES CREEK
I cross Drakes Creek on my daily commute in my hometown of Bowling Green, KY. It's a tributary that flows into Barren River which is a 135 mile long river in Southcentral Kentucky and is a tributary of the Green River. A fun fact about the Green River, it's the largest of the twelve major river watersheds in Kentucky. I still have fond memories of kayaking, swimming and trying to catch crawfish as a kid in the summers at Drakes Creek. As you get older you sometimes take for granted the little things in life and get caught up in the hustle and bustle of adulthood. I strongly believe in living a slow life and there's something so meditative about sitting by running water and just listening to nature surround you. I recently went on an adventure to a spot next to Drakes Creek that I always went to growing up and took some long exposure stills with my neutral density filter during the tail end of Autumn. Below you'll find what I came away with from that day. It was a wonderful reminder to not only appreciate nature but to also reflect on the year of 2024 and remember that slow living is such a rare but rewarding lifestyle in a world that is constantly and anxiously on the go. I hope you enjoy this mini series of Drakes Creek.
